BRAN: the physical characteristics of its main component, fibre (size of particle, density, water-retention capacity), are suitable to accelerate digestive transit, which is of interest in feeds for ruminants and rabbits and in order to prevent problems of constipation in sows. Starch, with characteristics similar to those described for wheat grain, is the most valuable component and also the most variable, with the result that the determination or estimation of its content is important for a correct evaluation of each consignment.
